Just a few miles off the eastern tip of Anguilla, sits privately owned Scrub Island. A few abandoned houses and an old airfield still remain on the island but some of its most famous occupants are winged. Birdlife International has identified the island as an ‘Important Bird Area’ with nesting sites for laughing gulls and a variety of terns. Whales have been spotted west of the island on the southern coastline.
